The ILX3232 is a low-power, high-data-rate EIA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 communication module that runs on 3V. The ILX3232 features a low-dropout transmitter output stage that delivers real RS-232 performance from 3 to 5.5V supply. For operation from a 3V supply, the device simply requires four modest 0.1F standard external capacitors. Two receivers and two drivers are included in the ILX3232. The device is guaranteed to operate at 250Kbps data rates while preserving RS-232 output levels. Notebook, Subnotebook, and Palmtop Computers, Battery-Powered Equipment, Hand-Held Equipment, Peripherals, and Printers are examples of typical applications.

One driver and one receiver are included in the MAX3080-MAX3089 high-speed transceivers for RS-485/RS-422 communication. When the receiver inputs are open or shorted, the devices' fail-safe circuitry ensures a logic-high receiver output. This means that if all transmitters on a terminated bus are turned off, the receiver output will be a logic high. By driving a selector pin with a single three-state driver, the MAX3089's slew rate may be changed between 115kbps, 500kbps, and 10Mbps. Normally, these transceivers consume 375µA of supply current while they are idle or fully loaded with the drivers turned off.

The SN65176B and SN75176B devices, both of which run off of a single 5V power supply, combine a 3-state differential line driver with a differential input line receiver. Activehigh and active-low enables on the driver and receiver, respectively, can be linked externally to work as a direction control. Internal connections between the driver differential outputs and the receiver differential inputs create differential input/output (I/O) bus ports that are intended to load the bus as little as possible when the driver is deactivated or VCC = 0. Wide positive and negative common-mode voltage ranges on these ports make the gadget appropriate for partyline applications.

For high-speed communication on multipoint transmission lines, the ADM2687EBRIZ are fully integrated 5 kV rms signal and power isolated data transceivers with 15 kV ESD protection. The inbuilt 5 kV rms isolated dc-to-dc power supply included in the ADM2682E/ADM2687E eliminates the requirement for an external dc-to-dc isolation block.  They are in accordance with ISO 8482:1987(E) and ANSI/TIA/EIA-485-A-98 and were created for balanced transmission lines.  The devices combine a three-channel isolator, a three-state differential line driver, a differential input receiver, and an Analogue Devices isoPower® dc-to-dc converter into a single package using Analogue Devices, Inc.'s iCoupler® technology. As a result, a completely integrated signal and power isolated RS-485 solution is realised. The devices are supplied by a single 5 V or 3.3 V supply. 

The integrated, galvanically separated ADM2483 differential bus transceiver is intended for bidirectional data transfer over balanced, multipoint bus transmission lines. It conforms with ISO 8482: 1987(E) and ANSI EIA/TIA-485-A. The ADM2483 integrates a three-channel isolator, a three-state differential line driver, and a differential input receiver into a single device using Analogue Devices, Inc.'s iCoupler technology. The bus side of the device utilises just a 5 V supply, but the logic side may be supplied by either a 5 V or 3 V source. To lessen reflections caused by transmission lines with faulty termination, the ADM2483 is slew-limited. The data rate is constrained to 500 kbps by the regulated slew rate. The device supports up to 256 transceivers on the bus thanks to its 96 k input impedance. 

The four-channel digital isolators ADuM1410/ADuM1411/ADuM14121 are built using iCoupler® technology from Analogue Devices, Inc. These isolation components, which combine high speed CMOS and monolithic air core transformer technology, offer exceptional performance qualities that are superior to those of competing products like optocoupler devices. The design challenges that are often connected with optocouplers are eliminated by iCoupler devices by omitting the usage of LEDs and photodiodes. The straightforward iCoupler digital interfaces and steady performance traits minimise the typical issues with optocouplers, including erratic current transfer ratios, nonlinear transfer functions, and temperature and longevity impacts. 

The devices have cross-wire protection, overvoltage protection up to 36V, loss of ground protection, overtemperature (thermal shutdown) protection, and common-mode transient protection of 100V because they were made to operate in very demanding settings.These devices operate within a broad (7V to 12V common mode range).These transceivers serve as the link between CANbuses used in industrial, building automation, transportation, and automotive applications and the host CAN controller on the CPU.

A two channel Universal Asynchronous Receiver and Transmitter (UART) for serial data transfers is called the SC16C2550B. Its main job is to transform serial data from parallel data and vice versa. Up to 5 Mbit/s of serial data rates can be handled by the UART.
The ST16C2550 and SC16C2550B are pin compatible. It will start up with the same functionality as the 16C2450. The SC16C2550B offers improved UART features, including data transfer in DMA mode, modem control interface, and 16-byte FIFOs. The FIFO trigger levels, TXRDYn, and RXRDYn signals regulate the data transmission in DMA mode. The user can access operational status and error signals using on-board status registers. Software may be used to modify system interruptions and modem control functions to accommodate particular user needs. 

A single-chip CMOS-LSI communications device that offers a full-duplex asynchronous receiver/transmitter is the Philips Semiconductors SCC2691 Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART). It is made using CMOS technology from Philips Semiconductors, which combines the advantages of high density and low power consumption. A 16X clock obtained from a programmable counter or timer, an external 1X or 16X clock, or one of 18 predefined baud rates can all be chosen separately as the working speed of the receiver and transmitter. Both the counter/timer and the baud rate generator can get their power directly from crystals or from external clock inputs. The UART is especially appealing for dual-speed channel applications like clustered terminal systems because it allows for the independent programming of the operation speeds of the receiver and transmitter.
